I just bought a Nuvi 1690 that is supposed to be new, never used and I want to give it to my brother as a gift, but I am not 100% sure it has not been registered. I don't want to give to him and then be embarrassed that it has been used/registered if he goes online to register it. Is there a way I can check online to see if it has been registered? I looked and the site says to download Garmin Express and go through the process, but I am nervous that I might actually end up registering it myself if I go through with it. I thought to call customer service but they are closed today and I want to give it to him tonight at a get together. How can I check without being in danger of registering it?
I guess that would be one way of doing it, but if I go through the steps of registering it, will there be a point in the process where I input the serial number and it will stop the process and let me know that number has already been registered without hitting click to actually complete the registration? Or is it such that the only way to know is to click to complete registration?
