I am unable to sync segments to my Edge 810. I have created segments in Garmin Connect online (windows 8.1 PC) and they show up in the android app just fine. However, when I try to send the segments to the 810 via the app I get the message: "Sync failed. Sync download error. Please try again". When I connect the Edge 810 to my PC, send segments to the device from Garmin Connect through Garmin Express I get the Error message: "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect". All of my activities sync just fine. I am able to sync courses through the app as well. I am having trouble sending segments only. Please help!
I am sorry for the troubles. Anytime your sending something from Connect to the device and it fails, always login to your account through a web browser and delete the items in the Sync menu then try to send them again. I segments look good so I do not see a obvious reason why they would fail. I removed them from the Sync menu so they would not get in the way of your next attempt. If you continue to have trouble I suggest you contact Garmin Support by phone.
I have contacted support via phone. They were able to duplicate my issue. There is an issue with ALL Garmin 810s. Segments created from activities performed using a Garmin 810 CANNOT BE SENT TO ANY DEVICE. Syncable segments can only be created from activities performed using an Edge 1000. I cannot create my own segments. I can only use other people's segments. Support told me they'll let me know when they have a fix.
As a test:
Perform an activity using an 810
Sync the activity to Connect
Create a segment from the activity using Garmin Connect online
Now, after the leaderboard is populated, try to sync the segment to the 810 using either Garmin Express OR the mobile app.
Result: ERROR messages in both Garmin Express and the Mobile App.
