305 + Express + Sync Error + Only course summary

I've had to switch to Garmin Express from being a happy Connect user for years after Chrome dropped support for the plugin.

My first run sync OK, but my second run gave an "Error synchronising" the first time and wouldn't sync after that. I've deleted the

C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\<deviceid>\Sync

directory as suggested elsewhere in the forum, and now it does sync, but only the summary of the course appears - the tcx file is just 2KB (the last few runs re-appear in that directory and are 80KB to 500KB).

I can still see the course in map view on the 305, so I know it is there.

Is there anything I can do to recover it and improve my so far hit and miss experience of Express?

(System: Fully patched up to date Windows 7 64bit).

    Unfortunately it seems as though that specific workout is corrupt. That is why only 2KB of the workout is getting onto your computer. In order to improve your Garmin Express experience I would recommend master resetting that watch with these instructions.

    How do I perform a reset on my Forerunner 305, 205, 301, 201 or 101?

    I performed a master reset, and the two runs after that uploaded ok, but the 3rd run was back to just a 2K file.

    On the watch I can select History->Running->By Day->[today]->View Laps->Lap 1->View On Map and the route is visible and appears correct (as was the case before) which indicates the watch can read the data and the data complete.

    As this only started when I switched from Garmin Connect to Garmin Express, it appears logical that Garmin Express is at fault and that it is not reading all the data correctly.
  • Just a point, you haven't switched from Connect to Express. Express is simply the conduit for synching your device with Connect. As to your problem, I'll leave that to the Express team :)

    Since the master reset didn't correct the issue, I would suggest contact support.
