Garmin Express loses data after transfer

Every so often Garmin Express loses data after it has completed the transfer from my 310XT, i.e. it never shows up in Garmin Connect. I have the latest versions of the software, running on a Macbook. This used to happen more frequently a couple of years ago, and just now happened again for the first time in perhaps a year. Drat, it was the data from the half marathon I just ran.

Is the data sitting somewhere on my machine that I can recover?

    listening in here
    having the same issue. ************!
GE says it has synced. but activity not showing up in Connect.
    (FR310XT Firmware 4.5, GE 4.1.16.1)
  • I am sorry for the troubles. In the latest versions of Garmin Express the option to delete the activity from the device after a successful sync has been removed. Activities are no longer automatically deleted from the History folder on the 310XT during the sync process. In the general day to day operation of the device, if the activities that are successfully uploaded to Connect are not regularly deleted by the user the device will eventually run low on memory be more likely to corrupt small portions of a lengthy activity such as a Marathon. This corruption may cause Connect to reject the file during syncing. Express stores files in a folder on the computer before uploading them to Connect. Please use the FAQ: Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect? Technically this folder should be empty. If there are any files in it then you can try to manually upload them. If the file name is just a number without the .FIT extension, add the extension before you Import into Connect. Use the steps in the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect? to manually Import to Connect. In Step 7 you will browse to the folder identified in the first FAQ instead of an actual USB device. Regardless if Connect accepts the file(s) they should be removed as not to interfere with future syncing.

In addition to these steps you can resend all the activities in the History folder on the 310XT. I recommend deleting all but the last 30 days worth of History on the watch before resending. Unfortunately, if the missing activity is no longer on the watch or on the computer then it cannot be recovered. In that case preventing future sync issues would be the next step. Delete the watch from Express and Connect, Master Reset it then add it back again. See the FAQ: How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express? and How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

Again I am sorry for the troubles.
