Forerunner 205 won't synch. Was it left behind with the most recent update?

But it DOES erase the stored data before it tells me it had a problem synching. So now I have lost the data from my last four runs.

Not that anyone cars. Garmin has a lot to learn about customer service.

See if the files have been saved to the computer. If the files have been saved to the computer, you can manually import them into Connect only you would navigate to the file location on the computer and not the device. You may need to add a .fit extension to the file to import it. These two FAQs will assist you with this:

Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect?

How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect?

If the files fail to import, they may be corrupted. The device may need to be master reset to clear off corrupted data.

Or you can contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

Nope. Files gone. The Gamrin works great as a stopwatch and so on but I have to use something else to save my data. Just got Runtastic for my smartphone.

Just out of curiosity: The Forerunner worked fine up to the last update. Why did you guys mess with it?
  • Sorry you lost your data, not sure how that can have happened?

Set my 310xt to transfer all and after an hour or so it got my latest session. Will see how it goes next time. At least no need for full reset.

Did the hard reset etc. Went out for a run this morning. Came back and tried to synch. Express says Nothing to Synch. The data is on the watch. Obviously, it was the latest screw up from Garmin that caused this. Luckily, I am using Runstastic now so I saved my data that way.

I have successfully synced several test activities on the Forerunner 205 through the latest version of Express will no issues. If Express is recognizing the 205 is connected but contains no new data it sounds like the Lap/Reset button on the 205 has not been pressed. Try holding down the Lap/Reset button until it counts back from 3 then put it on the cradle. You might want to clean the brass connectors on the watch and cradle both as well. If you continue to have troubles, remove it from Express and Connect, create another 30 sec test activity, verify the activity is in the History folder then add it back again. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Nope

Tried all that. Doesn't synch. It erases the data on the watch and it charges just fine. The watch works. It's the synching/program that is faulty. More lost data.
  • In the last several version of Express the option or setting to delete activities from the device after syncing has been removed. If it was Express specifically then I would be experiencing it as well as every other Forerunner 205 owner. I have no doubt that you are experiencing it, we just need to figure out why. I tested a 205 and 305 without the data being removed from the watch. Is Garmin Express up to date at 4.0.17? Can you describe step by step what you are doing when you create and reset the watch after an activity? What Sport do you have the watch set to? Is it acquiring satellites each time? How long is the activity? Is the activity in History before you connect it to the cradle? Why did you mention the charging of the watch? What screen is the watch on when it is in the cradle? Is the firmware on the Forerunner 205 up to date?

    Test activity from Today:

I'm doing everything the exact way I have done it the last few hundred times I used the watch. Yes, It acquired etc. the reason I mentioned it charging is because that would seem to show the contacts are clean.

    I'm not a child.

Yes, the data is on the watch. I try to synch it. The data is removed from the watch but does not show up on the computer. No offense, but this discussion is not really that helpful.

And Yes, according to everything the watch and program say, it's all up to date.
