310XT and latest update of Garmin Express - Can't transfer data anymore

Upgraded my Garmin express yesterday to 4.0.15.0 (I'm using Windows7).
Now it does not recognize my forerunner 310xt (software version 4.50).
Seams that GE will not acknowledge my ant stick tough Ican see it in device manager.
I get a message saying my device is not connected.
I have tried rebooting pc, using different usb port, still does not work

Master reset IS NOT an acceptable answer. I'm geting real tired of all this BS.
  • Just to add that since my last post where I installed 4.0.17.0 again, automatic uploads are now working. The last two syncs have worked without any intervention so far.

Garmin Express is a SO, so lousy software... Even with "Automatic updated" NOT TICKED, it was automagically updated from 4.0.17 to 4.0.19 and EVERYTHING stopped working, no sync, nothing. Uninstalled everything/deleted data, restarted computer and reinstalled 4.0.17. Now it syncs, it says "Last sync 16:55pm" (5 mins ago) but the data IS NOT present at my Garmin Connect account, last activity was 29th April but on the watch there are 3 newer activities.

Why the heck can't you solve this, it's not only me, the errors have been there more or less from the beginning of GE and the fine staff @ Garmin don't seem to care about it! This is serious with a product in this price category. And since there is NO OTHER way of getting the data out of the watch, I can't even change from Garmin Connect to another (better) software.

    ...

Time to go viral about these serious and long lasting issues so Garmin takes action?

And it just keep on going... Now when it syncs, I'm prompted with "Re-authentication required". After logging in (successfully) absolutely NOTHING happens, until about 2 hours, when I'm asked to sign in again.. This is driving me crazy...

Not even the old interface is working anymore...

When using the old Upload tool on the website:TypeError: Garmin.service.Client is not a constructor
    new Garmin.service.Client(), { ...

I am sorry that you are having trouble syncing your device. If you are getting the reauthentication required message, there is a corrupt activity on your computer. The file will be stored in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\[Unit ID]\Sync\FIT_TYPE_4.

The ProgramData folder is hidden. To access this folder:
    • Press the Windows Key + R
    • Type %programdata%
    • Click OK

Once you find the FIT_TYPE_4 folder, you can try renaming the files so that they end in '.fit' and uploading them manually using Modern Connect (From the Activities page, click Import). If any of the files fail to upload, they are corrupt and will need to be removed.

Once you have finished uploading any files manually, go ahead and delete the entire Sync folder. If you are missing any activities, you can try resending all of the activities on the watch but if you get the Reauthentication Required message again, the file is corrupt on the watch and you will need to delete the sync folder again.

I've just sent a mail regarding the inability to send content to my 310XT. It seems in the logs that the remote directory on the device does not exist.

It sounds like NewFiles is/should be a folder on the 310XT device but doesn't exist..... It has obviously worked before so hopefully someone can fix it again. It worked before I updated to this new version too (like last week or something).

Ah well, there goes using my Garmin to run home tommorow :@

PS: Oh and having to login to Garmin (and because I login via Facebook get a new 2FA code) every time I re-add the device to try again is getting old. Can't this login profile be saved somewhere so I can re-add a device without having to reauth every damn time.

How are the courses created? The Garmin Connect team is currently working to resolve an issue where courses created from an uploaded .gpx file will not send to the device in Garmin Express. If this is how your courses were created, that explains why you are experiencing this difficulty. Have you tried creating the course manually or recreating it? Do you have any special characters in the name?

If the course was not created by an uploaded .gpx file and recreating it manually does not help, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

    Thanks for replying...

There was 71 files in the FIT_TYPE_4 folder, it says "Success" when I upload the last file in the folrder (after renaming it), there is no acitivity data, the date is wrong, distance and all info is "0".

Removed the sync folder now and after 10 minutes it starts to sync, but now after 10 minutes the progress bar only moved around 10% so I bet something is wrong...

It worked now. But something isn't right since it took ~20 minutes to sync three activities...
