Garmin Express wont install/launch or uninstall. Win 7 64

As the title says. For some time, I had an issue where Garmin just kept updating, time and time again. Then a few weeks ago, I could not launch it at all. When I try and uninstall, it does nothing, no error message, just nothing happens.

So I delete the directory, and then downloaded it again, but when I double click it, nothing happens. Again, no error message, just nothing happens. I have read about using IE to RUN it as opposed to downloading it, and running it, but that still fails.

Any help or suggestions, I have tried everything - it just does not work. Win 7, 64 bit.
  • try "cclean" to clean registry..

    then...install as admin ...
  • Did that - cleaner could not uninstall Express either.
  • If you simply manually deleted the directory, I think you will have a tough problem. If you have a backup of your system, restore that directory you deleted as a starting point.

Then, depending on the version, use a robust uninstaller program to try to uninstall it properly. I personally have Advanced Uninstaller PRO and IOBit Uninstaller on my system. I have them because they were free at the time.

If that's not possible, try to upgrade versions. If that doesn't work, try installing version 3.2.29 which many people including me find to be very stable. I also never get any notifications about upgrading.
  • Try using the Microsoft FixIt Utility to completely uninstall Garmin Express. This software is third-party and not created by Garmin. The software is licensed and created by Microsoft.

1.Go to the web page: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/
    2.Click the Run now button
3.Click Run in Internet Explorer or download then open MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.RNP.Run.exe1
4.Click Accept in the license agreement
5.Follow the provided instructions to select and uninstall the particular application

    When uninstalling Garmin Express select:
    •Garmin Express
    •Garmin Express Tray
    •Elevated Installer
•Garmin Update Services (skip if not present)
    •ANT Drivers Installer x64

This program will need to be run again for each item on the list to be uninstalled.

Then try to install Garmin Express. If you do not have that installer already, it can be downloaded from http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstaller.exe

With user's having so many problems to install, reinstall, uninstall Garmin Express.

Would it not be better for Garmin to make and special uninstall program that removes all traces of Garmin Express on the Laptop including the registry?????

That way users can start a clean install again.

Instead of going through using this program or that program.
And still have bits and pieces of the program still there.
Be it in the registry or some where on the Laptop to PC.

It is one of the most bloated software's around.
It puts items all over the place on your Laptop or PC.

But I know what type of answer I will get here on this Forum......... correct "SUSSAMB"

Is this the way to install one program??????

    Talk about bloated software......

There has to be a better way to uninstall Garmin Express completely without going through all this ........
  • It did not work. I went through the whole process of removing each element as suggested, using the MS tool. Garmin Express still shows in the "Uninstall Programs" in the control panel. I went ahead and tried to install, and it does nothing. No error, just nothing happens. Grrrr!

EDIT - It no longer appears in the Control Panel programs - but will not install.

It sounds like we need to take a deeper look at the system to assist you further since the fix-it utility didn't correct the problem. Please contact support by phone.
