Re-authentication required - nothing syncs on FR610

Today GE is trying to sync but halfway stops with the message 'Re-authentication required'. Even after authenticating myself the sync does not complete.
Have restarted the watch and the computer and verified I have the latest GE version.

As I wrote in another thread, I'm troubleshooting GE, GC and my FR610 more than I'm actually exercising...

Of course my watch is out of warranty, otherwise I would claim a new one.

Come on Garmin, why cannot you make anything work correctly?

I am sorry for the troubles. Uninstalling Express will delete the folder where activities are stored before they are uploaded. Please see the FAQ: How can I resend my history from my wireless ANT+ watch to my computer? to resend the activities from the 310XT.

The location of the Sync folder on the Mac is in our FAQ: Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect?

In the future, please post under the Garmin Express - Mac forum: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?461-Garmin-Express-Mac

    2 months

Ok this has got to stop now over 2 month and only 1 successful sync of only 1 of my runs not all of them tried all the work around and nothing?
maybe this has been answer somewhere but why can we not have the old sync button back i always used it as my 310xt has always been a bit hard to sync but loads better than now
Garmin please give me back my sync button. oh and we are all training it takes up a lot of are spare time we dont have time to re program are pcs os just to see how well we have done.
  • I am also having this problem forerunner 310xt and garmin express 4.50. Garmin Express has always been virtually unusuable with the 310xt (less problematic with my Garmin SWIM) but at least it worked before, now it just never uploads any activities.

The files seem to transfer to my windows PC, but they don't have the .fit suffix (in fact they have no suffix) then Garmin Express says re-authentication is required, I re-authenticate and the activities never get to Garmin Connect, I then have to import them manually.

Is this just a ploy from Garmin to get 310XT users to upgrade to a 920? If they are offering some kind of trade in it could be a good fix :-)
  • Experiencing the same issue described here which started for me on 6/7/15. After deleting the synch folder and setting watch to transfer all I was able to get the activities to transfer. I still get the error synching message. I'll know tomorrow if the watch will automatically transfer again.

If you continue to get the sync error after deleting the Sync folder then the corrupt activity is coming from the watch. Delete all but the last 30 days from the watch then try again or you can Master Reset the watch after deleting the Sync folder and resolve the issue.

The files in the Sync\FIT_TYPE_4 folder shouldn't have the file extension. Garmin Express doesn't need the extension to upload them. There is some corrupt data being created in one or more of those files. It may not be data related to the activity but probably user profile or embedded device data that Connect is rejecting. That folder should be empty after each successful sync. Adding the .FIT extension manually does allow you to Import them but be sure to delete them after you import them. If you continue to have troubles delete the sync folder then Master Reset the device or contact us by phone.

  • Still errors

Deleting all but the previous 30 days got it to sync the workouts again after deleting the sync folder as well. However, I still get an error that Garmin Express could not sync. It says there are 4 updates but they never install. Any suggestions?

The Re-Authentication issue was resolved in a new release of Garmin Express. Are you still receiving that error? If so, update to the current version, 4.0.25.

As for the updates, what device do you have? What are the updates? Some of the older ANT devices are unable to be updated through Garmin Express. If it is a Forerunner 405, 405CX, 410, or older ANT Fitness device, see our FAQ How do I update the device software on my ANT enabled device?

Other troubleshooting can be found in our FAQ What can I try when my ANT Fitness device will not sync with Garmin Express?

You should also delete the items in the Sync Queue in Garmin Connect and start fresh.

If you continue to experience issues, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.
