Re-authentication required - nothing syncs on FR610

Today GE is trying to sync but halfway stops with the message 'Re-authentication required'. Even after authenticating myself the sync does not complete.
Have restarted the watch and the computer and verified I have the latest GE version.

As I wrote in another thread, I'm troubleshooting GE, GC and my FR610 more than I'm actually exercising...

Of course my watch is out of warranty, otherwise I would claim a new one.

Come on Garmin, why cannot you make anything work correctly?

    not syncing

did you fix this i am having saying issue

Cannot sync with my Edge 705.
I've tried the workaround in this thread.
I've also tried uninstalling, deleting all Garmin folders, and installing again. I get "Syncing ...", which seems to take an unusually long time (5+ minutes), and then finally when the progress bar gets about half-way to the end,
    "Re-authentication Required
We're having trouble linking to your Garmin Connect account. To continue, please sign in again."
I click "Sign In", enter my credentials, and "Your Queue" now says, "You're up to date". Except none of my new rides are synced.
Extremely frustrated that sync seems to always break after a major update like this.

We are still working on this. See the workaround in post number 3 of this thread.

The workaround does not work for me. Please keep us updated. My Garmin 500 updates fine. My 910xt will not due to said re-authentication.

If the re-authentication is still prompted after removing that folder, then the corrupted data is on the Forerunner 910XT. Until it is removed, it will continue to be sent to the Sync folder and Garmin Express will prompt for re-authentication. Try to upload the files in the Sync folder manually (you may need to rename the file, adding a .fit extension to upload it):

How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect?

If the files fail to import, they may be corrupted. There are posts on this forum in other sections on how to fix a corrupted file, you may find additional support there.

The device may need to be master reset to clear off corrupted data.

Or you can contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

  • well the workaround has allowed me to upload my latest activity to connect and cleared the re-authentication error message, but issues still remain:
    1. activities no longer upload automatically via the ant stick - i have to go into the watch menu to manually upload after each new activity.
    2. the "there was an error synching with your connect account" message still appeared on ge.
i have now uploaded the latest software version (3.00) to my device so will see if this has any effect, positive or otherwise

I am also having similar problems. Try and upload my workouts. Somewhere during the upload GE says that something went wrong and my 910 turns off. When I start it back up again after doing the entire sync again (takes a looooong time) it tells me I have to log in again. Nothing is updated. I will try uninstalling everything and re-install.
  • Hi,
My problem was solved by deleting the sync folder (C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\CoreService\Devices\(unitID folder)\Sync) as advised by Garmin support in post #3. Maybe try that first as it's a lot less work than completely uninstalling and re-installing again.

Thanks Adrian. I tried that first and it didn't work. I went ahead and did the complete uninstall and delete. That did the trick! Thanks bhu73.
