Ever since I installed the new Garmin Express with the updated interface, it is popping up the message at random 'Update available. An update is available for your nuvi 3760. Click here to launch Garmin Express'. The only thing Garmin Express tells me is that there is a map available to purchase since the map is out of date. I am using Open Street Map, so I will not be purchasing an updated map. I presume Garmin Express is nagging me about the map update since my firmware is up to date. How do I get Garmin Express to just let me know if there is new firmware?
I am sorry that you are having trouble with Express. I don't believe that Garmin Express is supposed to inform you about updates that haven't been purchased so there is no way to disable this. I have never seen one of these prompts for any of my devices that do no have a purchased update available. I would try removing the device from Garmin Express and then adding it again. To remove the device from Express:
Open Garmin Express
Click the appropriate device on the Home screen (click the Home icon first if needed)
Click the Tools icon
Click the Utilities tab
Scroll down to the Remove From Express section
Click Remove Device
Click Remove Device in the pop-up window
Close Garmin Express and restart the computer
Open Garmin Express and follow the on-screen prompts to add the device to Express
I keep having the same on my PC using the Fenix 3 on Garmin Express. There are no "updates" , but there are additional language files that I do not have loaded nor want to use.
Possibly Garmin can check if Express notifies about all available rather than UPDATE available?
If there is any kind of update available, even if you do not want to install it, Express will notify you. The only way to disable notifications would be to close the Express icon from the System Tray then choose "QUIT" instead of "Run in Background"
Yep, that's what I did. Disabled Express from starting entirely. I don't really see them updating the firmware on my nuvi that often since it's so old, and I subscribe to a Garmin Oregon 650 Wiki that will let me know of new firmware, so I'll only run it when I need to and exit afterwards.
