Greetings.
I returned a customers laptop after repair today and wanted to load the software for his Garmin Nuvi 1490LMT.
A quick google search had me installing Garmin Connect ( GarminExpressInstaller.exe ) which wouldn't detect his Nuvi and after closer inspection the page where this software was downloaded has " Set Up Your Garmin Forerunner or Edge " across the top.
Ok so I realised this wasn't right and uninstalled and found Garmin Express ( GarminExpress.exe ) Which installed and detected the Nuvi ok.
Whats the deal with these two softwares ? I found I couldn't install Garmin Express ( GarminExpress.exe ) with Garmin Connect ( GarminExpressInstaller.exe ) already installed as I was told Garmin Express was already installed. I had to remove / uninstall Garmin Connect before installing Garmin Express. Both of these software's put Garmin Express in the system tray.
I've noticed that I can install GarminExpressInstaller.exe with GarminExpress.exe already installed but I dont have the satnav here to test if it connects.
What happens if I have a customer who owns a Nuvi and one of the modern watch devices and needs both softwares installed ?
I wish I hadn't installed Garmin connect on his pristine laptop as it installed .Net 4 Client and I don't think that's needed for Garmin Express.
Sorry for such a confusing post.... It doesn't make much sense I know
Can somebody make sense of what happens if I need both installed.... Or wouldn't I ?
