Garmin Express can't sync again

I am Fenix2 User. The only way to connect my running data to Garmin connect is via Garmin express in my PC.

the whole day seen like not able to sync the data again.

Anyone facing that problem today ?

the sync now circle keeping turning round and round and can not complete the sync.
  • Most folks are able to sync. Perhaps if you give more detail you can be helped. What device? What is failing for you? Any error messages?

fooger - most people can't sync. don't be fooled by sussamb. i've got a 310xt, i'm up to date on all the software and it is a nightmare with nothing syncing through express. tried the usual reset etc but doesn[t work.

i've reverted to using the ant again but this is flaky and takes an age to pick up and then doesn't always upload every session.

yet garmin still claim it is all ok and the users fault for not resetting everytime they want to upload...
  • I am sorry for the troubles. Express stores files in a folder on the computer before uploading them to Connect. Please use the FAQ: Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect? Technically this folder should be empty. If there are any files in it then you can try to manually upload them. If the file name is just a number without the .fit extension, add the extension before you Import it into Connect. Use the steps in the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect? to manually Import to Connect. In Step 7 you will browse to the folder identified in the first FAQ instead of an actual USB device. Regardless if Connect accepts the file(s) in the folder they should be removed as not to interfere with future syncing.

In addition to these steps you can resend all the activities in the History folder on the 310XT. I recommend deleting all but the last 30 days worth of History on the watch before resending. Unfortunately, if the missing activity is no longer in History folder on the watch or on the computer then it cannot be recovered. In that case preventing future sync issues would be the next step. Delete the watch from Express and Connect, Master Reset it then add it back again. See the FAQ: How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express? and How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

Again I am sorry for the troubles.

I'm having troubles with my 410 syncing - did 4 activities a couple of weeks ago, only 2 uploaded. did a couple more today, I can't get them to upload, despite reinstalling GE, the plug-in for firefox and retrying ANT. Owning a Garmin product has been a pretty disappointing experience - had one replaced 9 months after purchase, the chest strap failures are a well documented problem and so it seems are sync failures after upgrades. I hope you enjoyed my money because you sure aren't seeing any more of it.

    I am disappoint.

Edit - all the links in the post above give me an error message:
    https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={b16302a0-02ac-11de-515b-000000000000}
  • I've posted the details elsewhere but done everything that has been suggested - finally I found a plug-in for Sporttracks that could see the activity download it and then I managed to export it back to Garmin Connect (I'm a sad bunny that uses both programs). Garmin are in denial and keep telling me the file is corrupted which, if true, probably means that Express is to blame. When will they own up and fix the problem?

Just a simple 'me too' post...

I often have trouble syncing - I have to try 5 or 10 times before the sync completes (using a FR305, and up2date software). A while ago I debugged this, and the cause seemed to be that the server was simply returning an HTTP 500 error, so this is really something Garmin should be able to see in their logs and fix. Stop blaming the users or providing not working workarounds - if things work 10% of the time it is simply some error in your backend.

Further to my post above, I removed Garmin Connect and reinstalled ANT agent and it worked eventually. Offroadrunner - I got a 'file corrupted' the first time I tried to upload but the file eventually uploaded and is fine.

Pretty bad when a multi-million dollar company can't get their software to talk to their own hardware.

Use https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status to see if garmin connect is up when you do. I am often unable to login when the service goes down
  • I've done 4 activities since April 21st (Forerunner 910XT Verison 3.00). I have my computer on for about 1 to 3 hours a day. I start Garmin Express manually and wait for the upload usually for about 1/2 to 1 hour eventually give up and shut down the computer. Last time it updated (on the 21st) it was a few hours after I started Garmin Express but I don't want to leave my PC on for hours/days waiting for the update to start. And the work a rounds to manually connect are infeasible for me cause I'm stupid.
