Garmin Express not detecting FR305

From time to time I was having problems with GE detecting my FR305, but usually by removing it from the cradle and sitting it again it used to sync.
Today I tried to upload a few workouts, but GE is not detecting the FR305, I get the message that is charging, and actually is, because it got fully charged after a while. But I didn’t manage to upload the info. I cleaned the contacts, changed the USB cable, and did all other things mentioned in several posts.
I tried with the edge 800 and it worked fine, it was detected and sync’d.
Any idea? Your help will be appreciated.

    I recently plugged my FR305 into my computer again after a year and loaded up Garmin connect the website. I found I needed Garmin express so I downloaded it. No matter what my FR would not be found by the software. After reading this thread and others i checked my device drivers, it had two identical drivers installed. I uninstalled both, plugged my FR back in and let it plug and play (auto install drivers - PC Win 8.1). My device was immediately found and now works with Garmin Connect and Express. I would suggest you all try uninstalling all drivers in device manager first then plug it back in.
