Garmin.Cartography.MapUpdate.CoreService.exe

I'm trying to register a Garmin Nuvi.

Why do I even need a Windows computer to do this?

I'm getting the following errors while trying to install Garmin Express 3.2.27.0:

Garmin.Cartography.MapUpdate.CoreService.exe
has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

My computer is Windows XP SP3. I have installed .Net 4 in an effort to install this software. I have also installed the 4.5 Windows Installer.

I don't want dot net anything installed on this computer and I will remove it once I'm done with this perhaps futile exercise.

I have an earlier version of Garmin Express, version 2.2.17, that I have used in the past to update maps. Installing it now results in an immediate attempt to upgrade to 3.2.27.0, which then fails.

Any ideas on how to get past these error messages?

On Pc go to temp folder where you will find setup of GE 3.2.27, when you install with this setup you will not have error anymore.

I found the temp folder with GarminExpressInstaller.exe in it.

Same error running from this location.

Try uninstalling the current version of Garmin Express that you're computer. Once uninstalled restart your PC and then download the latest version of Garmin Express and install it fresh. The current version should be 4.0.8 instead of the 3.2.27 you are running.
