Computer does not detect my wife's 1450 LMT

As stated above. Wanted to update the maps and such and it can't get detected. Here is what I have done so far..

1. Tried different ports

2. Tried different USB cords

3. Downloaded the drivers again.

Don't want to try my 1450 LMT in case something funky happens as I am a courier and HAVE to have a working GPS. Comcast did just install a new modem/router about a month ago is that has any bearing on the issue.

Thoughts? Tips? Condolences? :)

Could not figure out how to add another letter to a drive so will just wait till my Garmin falls off the instrument panel and will bring it in and try the same usb cords I tried out and see if it works ok....

Well, my Garmin fell off the window today so just got done testing the USB cable. It worked fine so then I tried it yet one more time with my wife's and zilch. So, now what?? Throw it away and try again?

If I understand your situation correctly ....

Your 1450 is detected without issue, but your wifes using the same mac and same cable isn't? Then I suspect it has a faulty usb socket/hardware issue. I assume it charges OK? If it does you could simply use 'as is'. If you're fussed about the map update there are ways around that if you have a backup of your wife's GPS?

Does the device actually go into mass-storage mode when it is connected to the computer, does it show that it is connected to a computer? Have you tried to master reset the device? Sometimes when devices aren't detected by the computer, a master reset may resolve it.

How do I perform a master reset on a Garmin automotive device?

Does not go into mass storage mode...does not show it is connected...have done a master reset.....and have also just ordered another one :) I really like this Garmin so will try again..wish me luck :D

I still have a 1490, it's a great GPS although I now tend to use my 2508 ... good luck with your next one :)
