Why doesn't Garmin Express support multiple users? (Easily)

Both my partner and I use the same computer and we both have Garmin devices that we'd like to sync to our own Garmin Connect IDs.

We have separate UserIDs on the PC but Express seems to share all it's settings between users. This means that every time we do an upload we have to check that Express is connected to the correct Connect account. It would be a lot simpler if the settings were stored on a per user basis so that each PC userid had its own Connect login associated with it.

  • Dicko99,

Garmin Express will save Garmin Connect credentials on a device to device basis. This means that each device added to Express will keep the account settings that were set up for that device. These settings should save across user IDs on the PC.

If you are having an issue with the devices syncing to the wrong accounts, try deleting each of the devices from Express and Connect (select "Remove from Connect" when deleting from Express) and try syncing each device again one by one. Each device should ask which account to set up with and will automatically add its information to the Connect account that you signed into when you set up the device.

Once this is all set up, you should be able to sync each device individually without having to worry about the information syncing to the wrong account for each device.

  • My experience with 2 accounts is as explained in the customer care response.

However, what happens is that if you sync with a different account and then you got to connect, it automatically logs you out of the previous account and into the new one. That makes sense except the problem for me is that I generally leave Connect open on my desktop so when the other account is synced, I could be looking at the wrong screen and not realize it for awhile.
