Garmin Express 4.0

There seems to be an issue with the Garmin Express web page. When I open it I get this, even though I'm on Win7

When I click on the top 'learn more' link I get this:

Mac OS X 10.6 Support

Mac OS X® 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is an older OS X version that is no longer compatible with modern software. To use our software and desktop apps, you will need to upgrade your operating system to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or newer.

I to have the same problem with getting the new version of Garmin Express on my Win 7 pro version laptop.
It show the same window as SUSSAMB
It keeps wanting to download the old version.

When I use my other laptop with the Win 7 Home Premium no problems to update to the newest version of Garmin Express.

Again there are problems if it is not the Server it is the software.

Come on Garmin who is running the ship????????
  • The old version will update correctly to v4.0 from within itself .... and although I get the warnings the Express webpage still allows me to download but only 3.2.29 so there is certainly something wrong with the webpage.
  • Yep. Update currently works only from Express internally.

I ran it and in general it looks ok.

    HOWEVER:

It seems the 'advanced' option has disappeared. Thus one is not able to choose to install maps on the unit AND computer.

    With two effects:
    - you will allways have to plugin you device (e.f. Zumo) if you want to use basecamp
    - you cannot use mapsource with recent maps anymore

Anyone found a workaround for this?
  • No it hasn't ... it's still there but now called Installation Options (which is more descriptive than Advanced Options IMO)

I just tested this on another Win 7 Pro laptop and the same problems.

It seems it does not like Win 7 Pro............
  • Just update from within Express.

    @Sussamb

    - Try install CN 2015.20 on PC and on device
    - now uninstall CN 2015.20 from Pc
    - if you run GE now, you don't have anymore option like on your picture above.

So if you have installed CN 2015.20 on PC with win7 and now you buy windows 8 and upgrade your PC, how can you download map on PC if you don't have anymore option to select install only on PC?
Must i whait 3 month for new maps release to install on PC?

This version 4.0 is for trash only.
  • Well if I was updating my OS I'd use JaVaWa's GMTK to move my maps from one to another. I have around 10 maps installed so wouldn't want to use any other method.

If it's just the one map and GE works as you say (I haven't tried it) I'd simply create a cloned device that would fool GE into doing the download to my new PC.

Of course you could also simply download v3.2.29 and use that.

So there are many options to achieve what you need.

I get the same as above on one of my five 8.1 boxes. The other four 4.0.2.0 loads and works fine.
The one in error does download the old 3.2.29.0 from your site but gets
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". RenuInstaller.msi Program Data\Package Cache\{9B9CEB97-46C5-4262-9470-886B7C38B357}v 3.2.28.0, The same happens from updating from within Express

The current version displayed on Express shows 3.2.29.0 and the update is for 4.0.2.0... HELP PLEASE
