Garmin 62st Startup Error

I received my 62st for Christmas this year and I am experiencing a similar issue even though it had only been powered up once or twice previously. I turn it on and it starts to load. At this point, a message conveying that the external power has been disconnected and do I want the device to remain on. I am then given a 30 second timer in order to make my decision. However, the buttons fail to operate correctly. the screen blinks a couple of times and then the usb symbol is on the screen. After a few seconds the screen slowly begins to dim. The confusing thing is that this only happens a majority of the time. A few times I have been able to make it pas the loading menu in order to go into the menu and do a reset. To no avail. On top of that, occasionally, another menu will pop up to inform me that all the data is converting to gpx format but the loader freezes, enters usb mode, the powers off as aforementioned. this is strange due to the fact that there is no information because i haven't barely used if for more than the initial setup. I have tried a battery swap, software update, factory rest but no change. I have also tried the "master reset" that garmin suggests but I am not supplied with the menu that is depicted. Unfortunately the regular hours of operation for Garmin are not in affect as of now, so I guess I will just need to be patient. If anyone knows of anything similar let me know please.
