I've entered information on my Garmin Connect account. On selecting send to device I'm directed to install Garmin Express which I've done. When trying to link my recognized Garmin 500 device to the existing Gamin Connect account I'm getting an error and I'mm not able to use the Garmin Express and therefore can't send the information to the device. Is there a work around where I can edit for instance my max heart rate or resting heart rate directly on the device?
I am sorry to hear about the trouble with your 500. Does Garmin Express successfully upload activities from the device to Garmin Connect? Does it only fail when downloading the heart rate zones? What is the exact error message received in Garmin Express (may need to click Show Details on the right to view the error)? Have you tried all the troubleshooting in this FAQ:
What should I do if I'm having issues with the Garmin Express client?
If you have tried all the troubleshooting in our FAQ and are still receiving the error, contact Product Support for further assistance.
I upload activities from Garmin Connect without any issues. However I cannot see my device and when I try to send to the device I'm advised to install Garmin Express which I've successfully done over and over. I can see the device on Garmin Express but when I try to sync device to the existing Garmin account an error comes up - LOCALE PARAMETER IS INVALID!! Along with a full page of programming language. I've done what was advised above in the FAQ. I have also sent 2 requests to product support without anything other than acknowledging receipt.
I don't know what else I can do at this time. I would really like to get this issue solved.
The error message "Locale parameter is invalid" is usually caused by a corrupt or invalid Locale set up on the computer. Sometimes when this occurs, you can just correct the Locale setting. Instructions for changing the Locale can be found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale#1TC=windows-7
The instructions may vary slightly depending on the version of Windows that you are using. If the Locale is already correct, you can try changing it and then changing it back again. If you are unable to change the locale or it does not solve the problem, you can try creating a new user account on the computer.
As a last resort, you can also use Classic Connect to send your workout or course. To switch to Classic Connect, click the head and shoulder icon and choose Switch to Classic Temporarily. Sending the workouts with Classic does not require the device to be added with Garmin Express.
I changed the locale as suggested above and restarted. The Garmin Express still showed invalid locale. However I was able to send the course that I wanted to my 500 and I was also able to send all my profile info as well which is what I really wanted to do to update my heart rate and zones.
Maybe I'll try changing accounts later so that the Express would recognize and link my device but for now I'm getting what I need.
