Where do I get old firmware updates for Garmin 1350 or how to upgrade to latest 6.20

Hi,

I decided to do my Garmin nuvi 1350 firmware update after 4.5 years. Currently the firmware version shows 4.40 and the latest available seems to be 6.20. However while trying to update both via Garmin Express or WebUpdater, it just gets stuck on "Loader Loading...." message after the restart.

I tried following to fix it, but nothing helped. I can go back to my 4.40 to get it working, but unable to upgrade.

a) Tried manually copying GUPDATE.GCD to .system and/or Garmin folder (where the xml lives) hoping that it would detect on next reboot.
b) Tried going to 5.80 version before going to 6.20

It seems that there were some changes in 4.70 in the way upgrades are handled, so I'm thinking maybe I should go one step at a time and try updating in a sequence. But I can't find older versions of the update. I'm downloading it from http://gawisp.com/perry/nuvi

Any suggestions where can I find older versions, or how to update directly to 6.20 ? Mine is not a MTK chipset.
  • How much free space do you have on your 1350? The 1xxx series (in North America) are notorious for being short on storage.

Sorry to hear about the troubles with your nuvi 1350 showing "Loader Loading" after a firmware update. Here is our FAQ on how to resolve this issue:

Why does my nuvi 1000 series device display the message "Loader Loading" during power up after an attempted software update?

    Hi,

@ADBUCK, I have around 270-300MB of free space. Total space is 2GB. How much space should I have to be on the safe side. (This is a north america version)

@GARMIN customer care : I've already followed that link multiple times, and that was how I was able to recover my bricked GPS. But every time I retry, I get the same message over and over again. Are there any known restrictions from updating from 4.4 to 6.20 directly ?

    Thanks in advance -
    Manish
  • 200 MB should be more than enough to perform a software update. You must have something else going on ... time to call Garmin support.
