Garmin Express - Course file sync failed - want to remove

Hi

I tried to sync a (large) course file with Garmin Express, and it failed (due to the size).

I no longer want to get it on the device anyway (fenix 2), but it still in the Garmin Express 'items to sync' all the time, and always fails --- everytime I go to sync anything else, it still retries this one, old course file, and of course, keeps failing. Any other items in the sync, sync fine, so it's more an annoyance than anything.

I just want to be able to remove this constant attempt to send the course to the device in Garmin Express.

Many thanks in advance
Rob

2 things here that you may want to look at.

1st: Make sure the course is no longer on your watch. Check your device and make sure this has been removed if not delete the course from your device.
2nd: Check the pending Sync folder and delete the file from trying to upload from Express. This FAQ talks about activities but the folder location will be the same. Where do my activities go on the computer before they are uploaded to Garmin Connect? The file path in the FAQ is correct but you will want the download folder instead of the upload folder. The file type for courses should be Fit_Type_6. Deleting this file should stop Express from trying to send this to your device.

  • Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

2)- deleting the file from the PC folder location is what I'm after :-) however the FAQ page is currently broken (HTTP Status 500), but found it by digging:

    C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Core Update Service\Sync\Unit ID of device\Upload\FIT_TYPE_4

    Thanks
