Every time I plug in my Fenix I end up with two copies of the activity in Connect, one as a run and one as "uncategorized". This just started happening over the weekend.
When Garmin Express is uploading, does it show two files for the same date (click Show Details on the right-hand side of the screen during the sync)? Does your fenix history show two activities for the same date? What is the firmware version of the fenix? What version of Garmin Express are you running? What version of Windows are you running?
Hi there I have the same Problem with my fenix. But only with activities I record in .TCX and .FIT. Up until a couple of weeks ago it only transfered the .FIT file. I used the .GPX file for basecamp. Now it transfers to files via Garmin Express to Garmin Connenct. I guess one is the .TCX and one is the .FIT file, but I can't tell them apart. The only difference in Garmin Connect is, that one of the two files has no dinstance Information (i.e. 0.00 km).
The Fenix 1 only records in GPX and FIT. It doesn't do TCX, which is another format that's very similar to GPX and that other Garmin devices do use. FIT is a binary format, GPX and TCX are text (in XML) formats.
I had thought that Express ignores the GPX file, and for me (with the latest OS X version of Express), when I record both GPX and FIT, that's what it does. Today's cross country ski only went to GC once even though my Fenix was recording both FIT and GPX, and both types are on the Fenix. But for you, it's sending both. I can't say why. The total distance screw up is a bug that's been in Connect for a few weeks now and is supposed to be fixed eventually, but only affects GPX files.
The simple solution for now is to only record FIT on your Fenix, but if you use the GPX for other things you may not want to do that.
It is really strange that my Garmin Express does not ignore the .GPX file since a couple of weeks. But in the end it is not as bad, as I can delete one of the two files in Garmin Connect.
I am always recording Hiking and BackCountrySkiing in .GPX (and .FIT), as I use the .GPX for my Base Camp library. Don't now if it would work the same with .FIT files? But I guess that I cant transfer .GPX files more easy to other devices if needed one day...
