Activities deleted and not sync'd with Garmin Express/connect

Hello

I have tried to send my data using Garmin Express, and it has said "transfer successful", but my data has not been uploaded

I have looked on my computer as per this message on another thread:
eirikop

If using Express and the data was transferred successfully the data should be found in the following folder location:
C:\ProgramData\Garmin\GarminConnect\[Device]\Upload

Prior to the data being transferred the files are stored in the temporary Sync location here:
C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Core Update Service\Sync

If there was any data transferred it should be displayed in one of the above locations. This being said if there's no data at all I would recommend resending the data again by performing a force send. See FAQ: How can I resend my history from my wireless watch to my computer?

Mike

The latest data in the Upload folder is from my run on Tuesday 13th.
I have since run on Wednesday the 14th and Saturday 17th.

There is no data in the Sync folder.

Garmin express has deleted the runs from my device as they were "successfully" transferred...

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks

The remove activities after sync option within Express has been removed. I am not sure why the data would be missing on your device since Express no longer deletes these files. I looked into your myGarmin account and see you have a Forerunner 310XT registered. If you attempted to do a Force Send and this process didn't locate the missing data then it looks like the data is lost.

If the data is lost I recommend you make sure Express is updated to the latest version. How do I update Garmin Express? If Express is already up to date you may want to Master Reset the 310XT just to clear up anything that may be corrupted in the device. How do I reset my Forerunner 910XT and 310XT?

  • Hi Mike

    Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately I was using an older version of Express that still deleted the files (but didn't have any problems from November until now). The file isn't on the 310xt, and is not in the folders on the computer.

Interestingly there is a .fit file called ....104 which is 1kb and shows as a "empty file" in the Upload folder.
    File ....105 is missing
File ....106 was created today and worked correctly with the updated version of Express.

    Hi Mike,

I have had a similar issue today with my Forerunner 15, I synced it up and my last 2 activities have been deleted and not uploaded to Garmin Connect. The history on my watch contains only 1 run from the 9th of January, even thought 2 activities after that date synced and worked on garmin connect (containing personal bests). I would like to get the missing activities back but i am mainly concerned about it happening again. I looked on my computer and on the device for the .fit files but was unsuccessful, I would appreciate any assistance you might have. thanks.

I am sorry that you are missing your activities. The latest version of Garmin Express (v3.2.28) will not delete activities off of the watch. To update Express, see the following FAQ:
How do I update Garmin Express?

Since the Forerunner 15 is a mass storage device, the files will not be on the computer. If they are not on the watch then unfortunately there is no way to retrieve them.

    Hi Jason,
You mention that the latest version of Garmin Express is v3.2.28 but if I go to the garmin express download site (http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express.html) the latest version available there for Windows is v3.2.27

Where can I download the .28 version from?

    Thanks,
    Beltran
  • Download 3.2.27 then update from within Express.

    Thanks for the prompt response!

I tried that already and I get an error about not able to start Garmin Core Update Services (which works fine right when version .27 is running) due to lack of permissions

You can get the most current version of Express here.

You can always try running the installer as admin, or launching express as admin and then attempting the update from within Express. If you continue to have permissions problems you may need to contact support.

    Thanks Albert!!
    Running the installer worked !!

From within Express, even when launching express as admin, I was getting the permissions error... but running the installer worked fine.

    Best regards,

How does one do a Force Send? My workout today did not upload to Garmin Connect. It is still on the 310XT, but Garmin Express indicates there are no workouts to send.

    Nevermind, I found it.
