Update repeats constantly on start

I've just started using Garmin Express.I've never been that interested in uploading my data to Garmin Connect as I just prefer using SportTracks.With the Garmin Ant I had the Option not to upload to Garmin Connect but this doesn't appear to be the case with Garmin Express as I don't have the option or at least I don't see it.Also it's annoying I have to enter my Login details before it will let me do any importing into ST . But what really bothers me is every time I start Express it asks me to install the same update which I have done on several occasions it usually takes about 10 minutes to finish which is a complete of time.When I've finished the update it always say's Software is up to date.I'm using Widows 8 and my device is the Garmin 310XT.

    Your Forerunner 310XT needs deleted from Express and Connect then Master Reset. When you add it back to Express the software update prompt will be gone. This will also act as preventative maintenance for other sync issues you may run into in the future until the Master Reset is done. After the previous software version, some Forerunner 310XT's needed to be Master Reset to correct a problem with communicating the ANT Sticks. This issue manifested itself mostly with the ANT Agent and having to pair with the ANT Agent software each time before transferring data to Connect. You may also need to clean out some old data pre software 4.50 from your computer.

    Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\UnitID\

    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    Once everything is complete, pair the 310XT with Express and your existing Connect account.

    Thanks for your help.I followed your instructions and have paired again with Express which prompted me to update the GPS chipsets which I did and it stated that it was successfully installed.I then rebooted my PC and started Express only to be asked once again to update the G2 chipset .When I go to About on the 310XT it says Software version 4.50 and GPS 2.10.
  • The watch is not recreating an inventory list which Express uses to determine if updates are needed. The Master Reset should have resolved that. It will not effect the way the watch or Express works, you'll just have to ignore the prompt in Express or replace the watch. Sorry for the troubles.
