Garmin Express 3.2.26 - missing option to erase data after syncing

After updating to version 3.2.26, the checkbox option to erase data on the device after successfully syncing has disappeared, and activities remain on my device after syncing.

Is this an intended change in version 3.2.26, or is it just my installation and should I re-install?
  • Yes, the option to erase data after syncing has been removed from Garmin Express, there is no need to re-install.

    Can you please explain why?

Right now there is ANT agent, which is not supported by Garmin any longer, or it is how I was told. It has auto erase option, which has a bug, it can delete only one activity per successful download/upload. Due to this malfunction after a wait of months I contacted support to ask why it had not been fixed.

I was advised to use Garmin Express by Garmin Support. To be honest I do not use GC and do not wish to use at all. All I need a facility to download activities from my 910XT and 310XT to my PC.
But I gave a chance to Garmin Express PC version due to its auto erase function, which was confirmed in this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?137933-Garmin-Express-deleting-files-from-910-and-not-uploading-to-GC

This install gave me a lot of work, because installation did not happen properly. Just to mention I had had all the system requirements Garmin defines. I googled a lot to solve it and finally today I found a hint to use Internet Explorer instead of any other browsers. And no save, but a direct run. OK I re-installed IE following this hint, note, I had removed it from the Windows 7 components years ago due to its unreliability. So IE came back, of course I removed it again. ;-)

And when I finished with installation of Garmin Express I did not find auto erase option in it.

Please tell me what to do to get a properly working auto erase function after download for ANT devices

    My hints:

    1) to fix the bug of Ant Agent, any hope?
    2) to offer a place from I can download a stable, properly working version of Garmin Express. Again all I need is just a simple download and auto erase. Is there any place?
    3) to offer me any other Garmin software for my purposes

I am pretty frustrated, but try to be calm. You know make love, not war! :-)
    Thanks a lot
  • Can't you just delete the data in Connect?
  • Strange question.

I can delete the data on the device pushing some buttons in a sequence. I'd like to avoid this manual action with auto erase of either Ant Agent or Garmin Express. I dont want to use GC as already mentioned, moreover I did not find any option on GC for AUTO erase from the device.
  • I would like this option put back on Garmin Express. It was very useful. Now I have to manually delete activities from the device every morning.

There is an option - install old version of this app.

    Simple - download from:
or search google: garmin express 3.2.6

Uninstall current version of garmin express.

You must disconnect internet connection before install, becouse auto update will install newer version. After succesfull install, you must go to garmin express settings and uncheck automatic update option.

And Finnaly - in Device option - we will have "erase" option back! :)
  • Garmin is no longer developing the ANT Agent software. It is still available for use, however. Express is the preferred method to upload data. We removed the ability to delete the files from the device by design. However, if you would like to make suggestions to bring it back, please do so at the following location:

If you would like to delete data from the watch, you can do this manually from the watch.

Yes, Agent is no longer supported, however I reported to Garmin appr 2 years ago that its auto delete function improperly worked, so much before Garmin decided to stop its support. In spite of the proper bug reporting, Garmin was not able to fix it, or maybe did not wish to fix it. It is easier to say now that a product is not supported any longer than to state that "we are aware of this bug, but we couldnt/did not want to ...."

Fair play is important in business, too.

You know quite honestly, this exactly sums up why I no longer buy Garmin products. It's a shame the good work put in by the hardware team is crippled by the software team. The 'preferred method' sucks, and that's a shame. Just like the modern UI is the 'preferred' UI and that thing is a travesty.
