Nuvi 2599LMT not compatible with Garmin Express?

Hi,

Just got my wife a brand new 2599, and am trying to update with Express. The problem is, Express is telling me that the 2599 is not compatible with Express.

Anyone else seen this, a quick search yielded no similar results

    I am sorry that you are having trouble with Garmin Express. Can you please post your GarminDevice.xml from your device. This will give me all of the information that I need to look into this for you. To retrieve the GarminDevice.XML:
    • Connect the Garmin GPS to the Computer
    • Open My Computer/Computer/This PC
    • Open the Garmin or nuvi drive listed
    • Open Internal Storage
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Right click on the GarminDevice.xml file
    • Select Copy
    • Right click on the Desktop and click Paste
    • Attach the file to your post

    Well since my last thread was closed with no answers, guess i will try this again.

    9 months later, and Garmin Express still doesn't recognize the unit to do updates. appears others are having the same problem, but i don't see any solutions??
  • Do u have the most recent version of Garmin Express?
    the current version should be 4.1.6.0

    Click on the little gear wheel top right of GE and check this.

    yes updated this AM to the current version when i did the other updates using web updater
  • So if u hook up your Nuvi, u can see it on your PC, but when u click on "add device" in GE it doesn't see it?

    if not, can u upload the GarminDevice.XML file from your Nuvi?

    correct, to be specific:

    1. take 2599 that is powered off
    2. connect to PC via USB
    3. unit is recognized by Win 8.1 x64 and pops folder open
    4. open GE try to connect to device, not recognized in main menu
    5. try to add device as new, yields this error:
    nuvi 2599
    serial number:
    we're unable to add the device because our servers are unavailable at this time
    6. tried changing proxy options between auto and off on GE, no change

    how much personally identifiable information is located in that file before i upload?

    one other thing, i just tried the garmin map updater v3.3.4 to see if that would work, it recognizes the device at least, but then point me to Garmin to purchase maps (which are included with the device)...

    finally was able to get into the mygarmin site, and now it appears there is no way to manually register the device outside of Garmin Express either. you used to be able to have the website detect your device and do updates that way but it looks like it's gone now.

    So.....
    I can't register the device
    Garmin Express won't work
    Garmin MapUpdater won't work
    The MyGarmin website provides no help

    I'm fresh out of ideas at this point....
