Failed Downloading of Europe NT onto SD Card

While attempting to download my my newest purchase of the Europe NT map onto the SD card inside my GPS it reaches about 31% and then begins going backwards in numbers and also has a - symbol. Then it becomes stuck at -12% and never completes the download. I've attempted to download this map 3 times and I'm becoming really frustrated. I've tried to troubleshoot on my own, making sure my internet browser wasn't blocking something from the download but I have no idea what to do. I need the map for my trip next Sunday! If anyone could help that would be amazing!
  • What GPS do you have? Which OS? Which program are you using to download the map?

I have the Nuvi 50 which already has the Lower 49 States map loaded onto it, so I purchased a 30GB SD card for the Europe Map. I was trying to download it directly off the Garmin website through Google Chrome. I downloaded both Garmin Express, BaseCamp and MapInstaller but none of them recognize that I have purchased the map so I couldn't download it through one of those.
  • I assume you mean a 32Gb card, never heard of a 30Gb

Confirm you have bought the map download and not a map update? If the latter you need to contact Garmin and explain the problem, they will normally refund the money spent on an update and allow you to purchase the map download instead.

Note Basecamp won't help you and MapInstaller is used to install maps from your PC to your nuvi, so that isn't the correct program to use either. If you have purchased the download you should be able to follow the link given to you.

I have looked into your account and see that you purchased "City Navigator Europe NT 2015.20 ". This is a full version download done from the Garmin Website. You purchased the correct version of these maps. The download would be done in your myGarmin account under your (Manage Maps) section.

This download is very large over the 3GB mark in fact. If you go through your account and you install our communicator plug-in or "CPI" the website will detect your device and allow the download to start. The file will download and be transferred to your device if space allows or the SD card you add . Since you stated that you are able to get to about 12% and it stops I will assume you have already gotten past the CPI install.

This may be a connection issue and that your internet connections timing out because the file is so large. What type of internet are you using? Are you doing this via a wireless router if so try a hard wired connection or possibly by pass the router and connect direct to the modem? Now depending on the connection I have seen the Europe download take well into the multiple hour range and faster connections download the file in about 15-30 minutes.

I would recommend also disabling any background running process that download from the internet so you can increase the amount of speed for your Europe download.
