nuvi2597 LMT and Windows 8.1

I purchased a new unit today and connected to laptop via USB. It charges the device, as indicated by the icon in the top right hand corner of the unit's display, but it is not recognised by Windows 8.1 professional. Neither is it recognised by Garmin Express. I have 3x USB3 and 1x USB2 on the laptop, and it is not recognised by the laptop when I use any of them, Also tried 3 different leads in the 4 different ports, still nothing.

Suggestions anyone?

My apologies SUSSAMB for I have tried what is listed in that thread. The laptop does not see the unit at all. It makes no sound when it is plugged into the laptop, nor does it try to install any drivers, it just charges the GPS unit.

Then I'd do as it says at the bottom of that FAQ and call Product Support
