Garmin Express hangs when trying to sync Edge 800 with Win 7 pro 64. It will not auto sync when the 800 is plugged in and I must click the Sync button to try to start it. Version 3.2.21.0 worked up through 11/6 and has failed since. I have upgraded to the latest Express, 3.2.25 but that hangs too. I have uninstalled Express and downloaded 3.2.21 and installed Express - that too hangs. Express recognizes the Edge 800 but will not sync. I have deleted the activities after 11/6 through 12/1 but it still won't sync. Connect recognizes the Edge 800 also and I am able to upload rides from the classic screen.
Delete the contents of the C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\
1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
3. Click OK
4. Open the Garmin folder
5. Open the Devices folder
6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)
Next, delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
3. Click OK
4. Open the Garmin folder
5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)
I have opened the devices folder and the LegacyProxy folders and found them empty. I restarted the computer and plugged in the Edge 800. Express recognizes the 800 by showing it as "connected" in the window on the upper left of the screen. I still had to press the sync button and the little wheel is still turning over 5 minutes later with no progress.
me too cant upload any of my training, trying everything including what has been put on your post here but its still not sorted the problem out. good mind to send the garmin back as its no use if it doesnt work.
The Edge 800 is a USB mass storage device. Most likely there is some corrupt files on the device inhibiting the Sync/upload. Please see the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect? Delete the activity files that upload to Connect from the Edge 800. Create a 30 second test activity and see if that will Sync through Express.
I deleted all activities, created a 30 second activity, and Express still does not sync with Connect. Connect has no trouble uploading the activities from the classic screen.
I connected the Edge 800 to my computer and started to backup the Settings, Sports, and Totals folders and noticed that the Settings and Totals .fit files had the current modification date. The Sports Cycling.fit file had the 11/6/2014 date. That is the date the last sync took place. I have performed a master reset and created another 30 second test activity. This activity did sync with Express. The problem has been solved with a master reset but the question remains what corrupted the Cycling.fit file?
I am glad to hear that the problem is resolved. I do not believe that the issue would have been caused by a corrupt Cycling.fit file though as this file should not be sent to Garmin Connect at all. The date that was listed for the modified date was most likely just the last time one of the bike settings were updated. Unfortunately it is always harder to determine what caused a problem once it has already been resolved.
