VERY VERY URGENT HELP PLEASE! nuvi 3490lm problem with MAP

Hey there!
I have a garmin nuvi 3490lm, i'm going on a road trip tomorrow and i tried to updated it today.
After the update when i press "address" button on the "where to" i get the message ........... -> MAP DATA UNAVAIABLE.

What is happening??! I thought this gps had lifetime free updates.
I did some research on the GPS and it seems that the file for the main map has simply vanished.

I installed garmin express but it tells me that the software i have is updated.
What can i do?!
How can i download my map!?

Please help!!!!
  • Check in Settings, Map & Vehicle, myMaps just to ensure your map isn't listed. If it is but not checked then check it and all should be well.

    If there is nothing listed run Express again and repeat the map download. Or if you backed up your nuvi just copy the maps back in. Note the map is in a hidden .system folder, is that where you looked for the map?

    I Just tried garmin map updater and it says that found an update for my map cn europe 2015.20 but i cant install it because it's missing the main original map :\

    yep SUSSAMB thats where i searched it.
    I ran express again and i can't find anything related to download the map

    - EUROPE DEM (marked)
    - CN EUROPE NTU (marked)
    2015.10 3D

    Have you ever updated your map? Or is it your original map that is missing?


    i guess that the file that is missing is my original map file.
    (i attached a printscreen on my previous post)

    I am very appreciated for your help btw. So fast. Really thank you.
  • Well the latest is 2015.30 so it should be showing in Express as an available update. If it's not showing in the Updates tab look in the Device tab, it should give you the option here to reinstall or change maps. If it doesn't first ensure Express is up to date (click the gear icon top right and select Check for updates) then delete and reassociate your device from Express, see this FAQ http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={8a5f1480-ddf1-11e2-7dd9-000000000000}&kbName=garmin

    Once your device is seen by Express you should be able to update the map.

    I have looked into your myGarmin account and don't see any devices registered. I am unable to determine if you have successfully unlocked any new mapping to your devices. Please registered your devices within Express or visit myGarmin website and click register device so we can fully see the information on your unit. With this information we can see the history of your device and the date of your new map update process if it completed and a unlock/licensing code was generated.

    Ok so i've done everything you said but still no good :(
    You were right, my express was outdated. I updated it (still no map under device tab).
    After i deleted my device from express ... and i associate it again.
    But still after all this i can't update the map under device tab.

    what if i delete gmapprom.gma and gmapprom.unl ??

    Is it possible that the gps "thinks" the map is there because of this 2 files but main file isn't?
    thats why it wont update?
