New Maps Not Showing

Hey all, first post, hope you can help.

I Have a Garmin Nuvi 55LM. Great device, thought i would upgrade the maps from UK&I to all of Europe.

I go ahead and buy the download. No problems there. Try adding to device, not enough storage. Ok, ill insert a memory card. Leave it to download overnight and says download complete.

Now, I told the Nuvi that i wanted to go to brussels, no problem, plots a route for me.

Plugging the device back in to my computer, the Europe maps do not show in Garmin Express, and I have no way to see if they need updating. I know they wont need updating now, but its nice to know that when they will need updating, i'll have no problem in doing so.

Any reasons why my Europe maps aren't showing in Garmin Express?

Downloaded maps aren't updateable so won't appear in Express. But did you really buy a download? If you have the UK maps you can buy lifetime updates which will then give you all of Europe at the same time.

SUSSAMB is correct about downloaded maps. The only maps that can be updated are preloaded maps and full version maps purchased on a DVD. Your Lifetime Maps subscription only covers what is preloaded on your device. Unfortunately, there are no options to get updates for other regions of Europe on your device. It would be best to purchase a device that contains Full coverage of Europe if you need regular updates.

Actually that's not quite the story. The OP could have bought a lifetime EU update then all would be okay. If he bought just the EU download he's out of luck.
