Timezone update repeatedly offered for install after successful installation

Every time I connect my Edge Touring and start Garmin Express, it tells me there is a timezone update available. I install the update and it tells me that all updates were successfully completed, and tells me that the device software is up to date, but if I close Garmin Express and start it again, it again shows me that a timezone update is ready to install. Same problem if I don't close Garmin Express but unmount and disconnect the Edge Touring and then connect it again - timezone update again offered for installation.

The Edge Touring is running current 2.70 software, and Garmin Express is v3.2.25, also current as of an update check a few minutes ago. OS is Windows 8.1 64-bit.
  • Try deleting then reassociating your GPS with Express. Also ensure Express is up to date (latest is v3.2.25) before you do so.
  • Well, I installed Express (latest version) on my laptop, and connected the Edge to it for the first time. Exactly the same problem - the same timezone update (15.00) is offered for install, and continues to be offered each time the Edge is connected no matter whether I allow the update to install or not.
  • It sounds like the GarminDevice.xml file is not updating with the correct version number for the time zone map. Assuming that the update was completed successfully, this is not an issue with Garmin Express. You can try master resetting the device by following the instructions in the FAQ below:
How do I master reset my Edge 510, 810, 1000, Touring or Touring Plus?

  • Ok, thanks, performing a master reset fixed the problem. I installed the timezone update once and it hasn't subsequently prompted me to install it again.

Edit: I spoke too soon. Connected the Edge Touring today (one day later) to upload a ride and timezone update 15.00 was again being offered for install.
  • Im having the same issue with my Edge 510. Not the worst thing in the wolrd, but slightly annoying though.
I see you posted a long time ago. Did you ever get this solved?

Is your Edge 510 on the current firmware? The current version is 3.40. If your device is not current, update it either using Garmin Express or WebUpdater. Then remove the device from Garmin Express, reboot the computer, and add it back.

If the prompt is still received, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

  • Well, I notice that the latest Garmin Express update I just installed, v4.0.11, no longer tries to offer me the timezone update, but tells me that I'm up to date. And the only change is the updated version of Garmin Express, so my conclusion is that the problem was there.
