Garmin Express keeps on synchronizing a bunch of old activities ..

Hi guys,

I write you cause I am really pissed with Garmin Express and do not understand what's going. I do not understand why Garmin Express keeps on synchronizing something like 41 activities everytime I want to synch the ride or workout I have just done. There are activites being like 5 or 6 months old that are synch every single time and this takes a few minutes every single time. Note that after every single ride or workout I clean the history folder, as well the Laps folder and also delete the whole Edge history so what should I do or set to only synch my last ride anbd make synch faster.

Any idea ?

PS : I have a Edge 705 running FW3.30 on a PC with latest Garmin Express version.
  • It sounds like there are some activities stuck somewhere within the syncing process. I would recommend uninstalling Garmin Express and reinstalling as this will clear out the application data that is cached for Garmin Express. Just make sure when you uninstall Express that you select the option to "Delete all Garmin Express Data" in the Uninstall Wizard. Please try syncing again after reinstalling Garmin Express.

    If the problem persists, there may be some data stuck on the unit. You can try doing a master reset to remedy this situation and see if this fixes the issue.     Thanks for you suggestions.

    Uninstall of Garmin Express with application data flushed then reinstall fixed my problem.
    Synch goes fast again now ! That's great.

    Hello,

    When I try to sync my garmin edge 510 garmin express says I have a nuvi 2508! I don't own a nuvi and never have done, is there anything I can do to rectify the problem? As I can't sync any activities at the moment. I have tried uninstalling garmin express and reinstalling it and it's still not recognising the 510. It was working ok until about a week a go

    There are a couple things you can do try and fix this issue.

    1. Make sure there is at least 1 mb of free space
    2. Regenerate the GarminDevice.xml file
    3. Master Reset the device.

    To regenerate the GarminDevice.xml file it must be deleted first.

    1. Connect the Edge to the computer
    2. Open the Garmin drive from MyComputer/Computer
    3. Open the Garmin folder
    4. Delete the GarminDevice.xml file
    5. Master Reset the 510

    After the Master Reset, add it back to Express. If Express still shows the serial or unit id as 4294967295 the Edge will have to be repaired through Garmin Europe.
