My suggestion is Garmin fix their servers. The problem is the Core Update service tries to contact the Garmin Servers and they have nothing to give. It's obvious that this is a widespread problem all of a sudden affecting many devices from many different people. I wasted about 4 hours troubleshooting, and I'm sure many of us did the same. This kind of thing is unacceptable. All Garmin really needs to do is implement a communication that tells us when their servers are having issues so we don't have to fend for ourselves and waste our time. I want compensation for my time.
Tried everything i have found on these forums and nothing worked.
Kind of a mini win though. If i log into garmin connect on my PC (my samsung galaxy and ipod touch 5 can't mind you), and switch to classic rather than the new and improved Connect, i am able to connect my fenix 2 and am able to import my activities.
Can't lie though, not really happy with how I am feeling toward Garmin right now. If i get no joy in the coming days, the shop i got my fenix from said they are happy to refund fully as they are aware of many other unhappy people in a similar boat. Its kind of sad that a local small shop can provide such great service and a company like Garmin that had/has such a good name has its forums filled with consistent problems from numerous customers.
You can manually upload your data from the Modern view -->Activities page. Click on the Import link in the upper right corner. I checked on your fenix 2. I see that you got it registered on the 21st. Very rarely are the Garmin Servers down. The error message simply means something is inhibiting Express's ability to communicate with the Garmin Servers. Unfortunately that has come to mean several different thing over the last year or so. Please use this code to WXLAV to send the Express Logs. Access is on the Settings icon (gear). Code is only good one time. The logs might provide some more information about the problem.
Is the computer your personal or work computer? The Log files show that the Core Update Service is already running under the Local or Network Account and Express is trying to start it under your Username Account. Did you use any other suggestions in the forums to modify the Core Update Service in the Services.msc administrator tools? Have you tried completely uninstalling Express, restart, then installing again?
