Garmin Express: There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect

A while back I uploaded workouts to my 310XT, no problem (Created in Connect and uploaded to device through Express). Over the weekend I tried to upload a course to my 310XT and this msg kept on popping up.

So I tried using my PC at work as well and got the same error.

How do I fix this?

Is this the only course you have tried to send? Has there been any other courses that you were able to transfer to your 310XT?

I have just tested 3 random courses and I was able to send the courses to both of the 301XT devices I have here. What version of Express are you running the latest is 3.2.21? SeeHow do I update Garmin Express? What version of firmware is running on your 310XT?

    Devise firmware - v4.50
    Express - v3.2.21

Tried a different course as well, no luck. Same error.

    What else can I try?

I tested a couple courses with a 310XT and they loaded OK so the issue is does not apply to all watches. I suggest you delete the 310XT from Express and Connect, restart the computer then add it back and try to send the Course again. If you have more than 5 Courses on the watch delete a couple and see if that makes a difference.

I tried all of that. I addition I deleted the items to be synced on Connect and tried to upload a work that I were able to upload in July when I got the watch. Same ERROR.

I'm out of options. I cannot upload anything to my watch anymore. It does down load data from activities, no problem.

    What am I to do?

Are you still getting the error in Express showing the Meyerspark 5.5KM? If so there is a file on the computer that must be deleted before another Course can be sent to the device.

    • Press the Windows Key + R key together
    • Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    • Click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder
    • Open the Core Update Service folder
    • Open the Sync folder
    • Open the unit id for the 310XT folder
    • Open the Download folder
    • Delete any files in the Download folder

Login to Connect and verify that nothing is listed in the Sync menu then try to send a different Course. Let us know if you have any other questions.

We might be getting somewhere now.

I did exactly that, step by step = There is no download folder in the folder with the unit ID. I cannot do the last two steps.

I double checked the unit ID against the connected device on Connect. That correlates just fine.

    Suggestions?
  • Is there anything in the folder with the Unit ID?

Was this course originally created in Garmin Express? We have seen some issues with courses sending over through Garmin Express when the course is imported from another source. I would suggest trying to create a dummy course in Garmin Connect that is very short and very basic and try sending it through Garmin Express. This could help us determine if the issue is coming from a bad course or something with the transfer through Garmin Express.

Yes, an upload folder and a XML document named: CompletedUploads

I've tried different courses. Same thing happened when I tried to upload a training workout. I uploaded a few in July, but now it wouldn't.
  • It is interesting that it sounds like no matter what you try to send to the device, it basically just fails. As a last resort, you could try performing a master reset on the FR310XT. Just note that any activities and settings on the watch will be deleted and reset to factory settings. http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={acd36fa0-7ac5-11e2-65d0-000000000000}&kbName=garmin

If you still experience the same issue after resetting the watch, I would suggest calling our phone support so we can take a closer look at the issue.
