Hi

Just started using 910xt and garmin express /connect for a month no problem. Yesterday the problem as stated below in Mar 2014 has occurred - same error message . WHY ??. I do not have two computers and without sync and download capability the garmin is useless to me . Help please

Internet connection is being blocked.

• This is an end user computer configuration issue that affects a low number of our customers.
• We are working on developing a solution that will address this issue for these users while still retaining Garmin’s high standards.
• Garmin is working very diligently to find a resolution to those who are affected by this.
• For the time being if you are having an issue please try a different computer or contact Garmin Support.

This issue is almost always caused by a proxy setting that has been configued for the Local System account on your computer. If it has not been set up intentionally, it was probably changed by malware or adware that has been installed on the computer. Even if the adware or malware is removed, the proxy settings remain and cause problems for Garmin Express because our service runs on the Local System account.

As Mike said, we are in the process of developing a solution that works around this issue when it exists but in the meantime, please follow these instructions as a temporary solution to the problem:
    • Save to your desktop
    • Extract the file onto your desktop
    • Copy the extracted Garmin.Cartography.MapUpdate.CoreService.exe.config file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Core Update Service[SUP]1
    • [/SUP]

    • Replace the existing file when prompted
    • If prompted for permission to copy the file, click Continue or Yes
    • Right-click the Garmin Express Tray icon and click Quit
    • Click Quit again when prompted
    • Re-open Garmin Express

This will cause Garmin Express to ignore the problematic proxy setting that is set for the Local System account.

[SUP]1[/SUP]If you are using 32-bit windows, copy the file to C:\Program Files\Garmin\Core Update Service

    This worked thank you.
  • Can you send the Config file so I can try this?
  • Click on the link in the post.
  • Thanks, it finally worked. Tried before but it did not do anything.
  • We have released a new version of Garmin Express that prevents this issue from occurring. Please download the latest version of Garmin Express here:
