Cannot download purchased European Maps

Hi any help please

I have email confirming my purchase of lifetime European maps and on the Garmin site I can see the drop down to download the maps to the Garmin which is connected. Then it asks for me to install the already installed Garmin express and I click on this yet again to get error message 404 error fail. this really sucks for a new user the on line help is very scant and not user friendly so frustrated to find they close the UK support line at 17:30 exactly when people finish work for the day and could call up to ask to fix their issue with the Garmin!!!

So unimpressed please help.

If you're getting a 404 error I suggest you try again tomorrow. If you still get it give Garmin a call before they close. In the meantime I wouldn't worry too much, your current maps will still work.

Incidentally if you have Express installed there's no need to go to the Garmin website, just run Express with your nuvi connected to your PC.

Your device was not preloaded with City Navigator Europe maps and there is no full version unlocked to the device. This City Navigator Europe Lifetime Map purchase is not compatible with your Nuvi 52LM until a full version on DVD is associated with it. I will remove the Europe Lifetime from your myGarmin account and submit a credit for the purchase. Hopefully that's correct and will resolve the issue, although I'm surprised. The OP talks about using the UK support line, so I assume is in UK. You say that there is no full version unlocked to the device, but Garmin's CN EU Lifetime Map purchase only requires a subset of the EU map to be installed, and will then update that subset to the full EU map. This is different (AFAIK) to the way it works for CN NA. This is the relevant part:

Are you however saying that the OP had NO CN EU map installed? If so then your advice holds, but not if she had a subset of the EU map on her 52 when she bought it.

Curtis is correct in his response. The device in discussion here is a 52LM Lower 49 States device. When we located your account this is the only device that is registered. This is a device that has no Europe mapping and will need a full version Europe DVD unlocked to it before it can begin to receive map updates of Europe. Now the unit can still have a 1 time Downloadable Content or Preloaded SD card purchased for it. If these options are used the maps can not be updated. If you are not planning to update the mapping and are just going on vacation in Europe these maps would be perfectly fine. If you do plan on updating the maps the better option is the Full Version DVD and then doing the lifetime updates.
