Zumo 660 Maps issue

Hi, I have a Zumo 660 that I purchased the lifetime maps update option for in May. I updated the GPS today and it no longer works correctly. It boots up, says loading maps but the progress bar does not load. it then loads the dashboard with Where to / view map etc.. If I click where to then Address it says "No Data Available". If I go to Map info under tools it has "CN Europe NT 2015.20 3D" ticked, there are no other maps listed which I thought was odd.

I have tried clearing user data/reset, I have re-installed the maps using Garmin express which say it worked but still it isn't working. I've now spent 4 hours on this! My old Tom Tom never had these issues!

Please advise how to fix this as it's driving me nuts!

    Yes, formatted to FAT32
  • I've just looked through your posts. Are you sure the map in MapInfo says CN NT and not CN NTU? If NT then there is no CN EU 2015.30 NT map, EU NT maps are now only updated every six months, the current one is 2015.20, the next is 2015.40

The only map showing under mapinfo is CN Europe NT 2015.20 3D.

There is a difference to last time though, there is more free space on the Zumo 660, the files on the sd card is the same as last time.
  • OK, well in that case 2015.20 is the latest CN EU NT map so your zumo should have come with that map installed as it was released around August last year. That being the case I'm not sure what 'update' you could be referring to or downloaded?

Either way the map listed is simply the 3D map, and your zumo should have had the equivalent of the files you mention that are now on your sd card on the zumo when you received it. Did you do a back up of your zumo before running Express?

When I received the replacement unit it had 2012 maps on it, and foolishly I did not back up.
  • OK, that at least explains why Express carried out the update. In that case given that the card is formatted correctly, I would start again but try a different card. Some cards have been known not to work correctly, they may be seen by Express but not by your GPS.

It read the music I used to have on it if that makes any difference.
  • I'd still try a different card as it's the only thing that I can see being the issue. Your other option is to choose maybe Western Europe rather than the full EU map, that should fit internally without the need for a card.

Nicked the card out of my video camera and it works, so was the original card.

    Thanks, Nigel
  • Great. Updates should go smoothly in future.
