Garmin Express language change

My laptop has a Spanish windows operating system so my installed Garmin assumes that I want GE in Spoanish. Wrong! I want it in English but I don't seem to be able to find where to change the language. And I didn't see an option during install.
Anyone know how to change it?
  • AFAIK you can't change it in Express itself, so while I can't recall it I suspect the option comes when you install Express. Just do an uninstall then reinstall to find out.

    Thanks, USSAMB.

Now that I have actually got Garmin Express running (after much trouble), I am reluctant to uninstall it again. However, I do not think there was an option to select a language during installation. I install programs very carefully and have never noticed the option.
    Thanks anyway.
  • OK, I've just done it for you ... you're right, there is no option at the start. However did you download from the English site or the Spanish one? Perhaps it downloads as appropriate?

I guess it's possible that it reads your OS but that to me doesn't make sense, hopefully the Express team will put us out of our misery!

Express should display in whatever the native language of the OS is. I do believe however if the language is set to English for example when you first install your OS and then the language is changed to something different a registry key is left behind. This original registry key is what Express will use. So if the Language has been changed after the OS was installed Express will default to the original language that was setup.

I have contacted our Bi-Lingual team on this just to double check and they believe this to be true.

  • That seems nonsense to me. Surely if there isn't a way to change it Express should take the language set in Windows?
