Garmin NuLink issue

Hi Guys, really sorry to come in on this thread without having any knowledge or input to give, but as a newbie I thought this could be the right page to ask for help. I have a Garmin NuLink 2390, and I am unable to see my sd card folder on the device. I can see it in my computer when it's in the device. Also if I go into diagnostic settings I have no MTP settings option so how do I backup the device. The sd card is a sandisk 8gb and is formatted to Fat32. How will I buy new maps if I can't install them as I don't have enough free space on the device. I have tried 3 different sd cards with the same result, it's driving me mad. Any help or advice would be much appreciated guys, Thank's.
  • This post has been moved. I don't know if we have a specific forum for this question, but I think this one has the best chance of getting you some help.
  • What makes you think your nuvi can't see it? When you run Express does it see your nuvi? Note that Express doesn't look for a sd card, so if that's why you feel it's not being seen then that's perfectly normal.

You also don't need mtp mode to back up your nuvi. Just copy all your files across to your PC. The map files and other important files are in a hidden folder named .system, to see that you need to set Windows to show hidden and system files.

Thank you for that info guys, my friend has given me a map of the canaries as I am planning on visiting there, the map is named gmapsupp.img. I have created a folder on the sd card called Garmin and have copied the map file into it, but it is not seen by the satnav. I have tried calling the folder (map), that didn't work either. For the life of me I don't know how to get the satnav to see the file. Any ideas?
  • Have you selected the map? Should be under something like Settings, Map and Vehicles, myMaps

There is no map there to select, when I look in my maps there is only the pre-installed map file in there which is called CN Europe NTU. What am I doing wrong, I thought it would be possible to just copy and paste the map on to the sd card, obviously I was mistaken. Is there no way to see what is on the sd card on the actual sat nav?
  • Where did he get the map from? An unlocked .img map placed in the Garmin folder on the card should work.

From a friend, however I have given up on this. I have tried other maps off the net but none show up on the device. It sees the sd card, as I copied a photo onto it, and opened my pictures folder on the device, but the problem is, it does not show the photo, only a picture of a camera, how bizarre. There must be a problem with this device. I have tried other photo's and it's the same. I have tried transferring a contours map onto the device using basecamp, it says it transfered, but I can not see it anywhere on the device. So never mind thank you for your time and your help SUSSAMB, but I think I will just have to say it's got me beaten. Thanks again.
