Garmin Express: Worst experience

I have tried to install this so-called "software" on a Lenovo W520 running Windows 8, freshly installed.

I get the error message that the installaion failed. Various efforts have proved fruitless.

When I look in Control Panel, Porgrams, I see there are now 2 instances of this junkware (Garmin Express) and I can not unistall it at all.

This is NOT what is expected of a vendor.

How can I get rid of the instances of garmin express?
  • Well I wouldn't be so quick to blame Garmin if I were you, it may be an issue somewhere in your 'new' system. I had an issue once with a Toshiba laptop, due to Toshiba installing incorrect drivers :)

You say the installation 'failed'. Exactly what happened and what error message did you get?

Also look through this FAQ to see if it helps

    Your response is not helpful.

The error message I see is "Failed. Try again"

My trying again is of no use...
  • Well you need to try to help yourself ... no one else is sitting at your PC.

The FAQ specifically addresses the 'Failed, try again' message. It also says at the end if, having tried all the steps, you still can't get it to install then contact Product Support. I doubt you've already carried out all the checks so perhaps do that first.

They if necessary can remotely connect to your PC to determine what is wrong.

Yea right. I'm sitting in front of my PC, and your responses are still unhelpful... Sadly

I will try and get hold of Product Support here in South Africa, and hope for the best.

I've even uninstalled the KB2918614 from MS, restarted PC, but to no avail.

I'm in software development myself (for the past 30 years), and it is BAD coding to NOT tell your users where/what the problem lies that are causing the failure/error...
  • Perhaps when you find out what the problem is you could explain. Please note I'm not employed by Garmin, I'm just a user like yourself, if you feel that pointing you at a FAQ and explaining if that doesn't work then you should try contacting Product Support is 'unhelpful' then you're in the wrong place.
