Garmin Express won't install

I'm trying to install Garmin Express 3.2.18 on my WinXP machine. I've installed (and repaired) the .net framework per instructions I've found here. Yet when I try to run the installer, I keep getting an error:

Service 'Garmin Core UPdate Service' (Garmin Care Update Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services

I'm the only user of this machine, so I'm assuming I have sufficient privileges.

How do I get this installed?

Probably not. As I recall XP defaults (at install or after) to creating limited user accounts. Unless you're logged in as Administrator or are in the Administrators group you likely don't have "sufficient privileges".

On XP you run the "Computer Management" console under Administrative Tools but that is hidden by default.

You could try running compmgmt.msc but you need to be an Administrator to do so.

If you forgotten/don't know the Administrator account password there are ways to reset it. Your favorite search engine should find the details for you.
