Garmin Express No Device Found - Edge 800

I am unable to load courses from Garmin Connect because Garmin "Express" cannot detect my device.

It's a Garmin Edge 800 with software version 2.7. I'm attempting to use it with Garmin "Express" version 3.2.17.0. I have had no problems with using the communicator plugin to upload to Strava although I haven't used Garmin "Express" for a month. Is there a way I can avoid using this terrible "Express" program and just stick to a method which works?

If not, is there a way to make Garmin "Express" detect the device? I have tried restarting Garmin "Express" and the device and also tried deleting the "GarminDevice.xml" file then restarting the device as I saw that advice elsewhere.

    It takes me longer to upload runs now on Garmin than the runs themselves. It's awful. I have the old 310X for running...I have to introduce it every time as a new device and enable pairing on the device. Half the time there are problems uploading to the Garmin Connect. In some situations Ant Stick has gotten in the way of some other Garmin upload. I liked Garmin but they have taken something that used to be fun and made it complete drudgery. I think they update they're servers with no warning to anyone too, and half the time you waste trying to upload something that's not possible to upload at the time is just lost time and energy. It's pitiful. I'm on my 3rd Garmin device, and have caused other people to get them, but they've done nothing to maintain a loyal customer, and I'll be the first to find a tighter device as soon as I can. I'm tired of being Garmin's guinea pig.

    I am sorry for the troubles. You will want to make sure the Forerunner 310XT is running Software version 4.50 from the System-->About screen then perform a Master Reset on the device. The Master Reset should correct your pairing and syncing issues with thelatest version of Express.

    You may want to delete any left over data from the ANT Agent as well.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devic es\
    2. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    3. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    4. Click OK
    5. Open the Garmin folder
    6. Open the Devices folder
    7. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    Once these things are complete pair the device with Express and let us know if you have any other questions.
