unable to connect edge touring to Garmin connect

Hi
I've just bought a Garmin Edge Touring - when I try to connect to Garmin connect I get a message saying MSI install failure. I'm using Windows 7 and Google chrome. It's getting very frustrating-any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated! I have been able to connect to Garmin Express...Thanks for your help!
Pete
  • MSI is the Microsoft installer. If you're having problems with it check it's up to date.

Having said that where exactly are you getting the msi error? Have you tried a different browser, IE for example, as Chrome seems prone to msi issues?

Thankyou-unfortunately I'm still having problems, though not getting the msi error message now. I go to garmin connect-get the instruction to download garmin express v3-click the blue download for windows button-always get the 'failed, try again?' message. I can't get my unit to work with garmin express or garmin connect, and am wasting hours trying to sort this out using fixes suggested in this and other forums. It's clearly a common source of frustration to edge touring users. Can anyone help with a solution?
    Thank you....
  • Since this now seems to be Express related I'll move this thread to the Express forum.
  • If your download for Garmin Express fails, then you will not be able to install Garmin Express and have your activities uploaded/synced automatically. However you can import them manually. In the modern Garmin Connect click the icon in the top left that looks like horizontal bars, then select activities. There should be a link in blue near the top right that says "Import". Have your device attached to the usb cable, ensure that you can see your device as a drive/storage device when looking with your file browser. Then using the import link, you can go to the /garmin/activities folder of your edge touring and select an activity to upload.

Hopefully someone will post a solution for your Garmin Express download issue. You are not using a dial-up internet connection are you?

Please see the information in the FAQ: Why do I receive a "Failed. Try again?" error message when installing Garmin Express on a PC?
