This device is not compatible with express - Garmin Nuvifone A50

I have a GarminAsus Nuvifone A50. I am trying to update the maps. I was unable to update the phone with Garmin Express. I logged into MyGarmin.com, and Garmin refers me back to Garmin Express.

When the device is connected to Garmin Express, it gives an error message:
This device is not compatible with Express

I have two A50 phones, and both have the same problem. I changed the USB cable for a brand new original GarminAsus USB cable, but it didn't solve the problem.

I uninstalled and re-installed Express. Rebooted computer. Problem still the same.
Different USB cable - same problem.
Different computer - same problem.
Rebooted computer - same problem

I am able to update other Garmin GPS devices with Express, but not the nuvifone.

Garmin Express gives the correct model (Garmin-Asus A50) and correct serial number, but with the error: " This device is not compatible with Express "

Not really as I believe the most current map released for this region is at least 2015.30. The fact that you have not released these current maps for the A50 is the problem.
Its been 12 months with no upgrades, when will new maps be released for the A50.?
This device came with lifetime map upgrades which we are not getting.

The map releases that you are referring to are for the City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT. Your device was preloaded with City Navigator Australia NT. These are not the same mapsets. City Navigator Australia NT has not had a release since the 2015.10 version. Contact Garmin Australasia for more information.

I rang Garmin Australia last week. They didn't help at all and suggested I should contact Asus for some strange reason. I asked what Asus has to do with Garmin map upgrades and the response was "its not our problem".
They would not offer any other advice or information.

If anyone is still interested, after numerous e-mails, finally some news..

You will be able to update this device with the 2016.10 map update, set to be released in the next month or so pending some final testing. For the last 3 years it has been released in the first week of May, and we hope the trend to continue.

This map is set to receive yearly updates now, which will still continue for the life of the device. As a note, and as mentioned before, Garmin Express will no longer work properly with this device, so please use the Map Updater as linked before.

There is this release:
City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT 2015.40
Map ID 3570

It stands to reason that if both countries are updated to this version that there would be a City Navigator Australia NT 2015.40 too.

But not to sure how Garmin thinks.

And to top it off HERE maps from Nokia are up for sale.

How that will effect Garmin we will have to wait and see......
