Installing Europe Maps on 2597

I have a new Nuvi 2597 with an 8 BG Scan Disk card. I am unable to download the Europe map I purchased from Garmin. I get an error from saying Insufficient Space Software updated needed. I have updated all software. I try to proceed with the download but get this set of procedures:
Disconnect your device from your computer and allow it to restart itself.
When your device finishes restarting, turn it off.
Connect your device to the computer again.
Wait 30 seconds.
Click Continue.

After the disconnect, the Nuvi does not restart by itself and the rest of the steps result in nothing.

Any ideas"

I assume you're using Express? If so remove the sd card, ensure Express is up to date and delete your nuvi from Express. Now connect your nuvi to your PC without the sd card installed. Let Express detect the nuvi and try to update the map, only insert the sd card when Express tells you to do so.

Sorry, I missed the bit where you said you 'purchased the map'. What map came pre-loaded on your nuvi and which map did you purchase? I ask since often folks make the mistake of buying an 'update' when actually they need a new map.

Then it's almost certainly an issue with your PC. Have fun in France, I'm just back after a couple of weeks there!

As this is now resolved I'll close this thread.
