My Fenix connects to Express and synchs. Express does not send that data anywhere. Not Connect or Strava. Connect would synch through express several weeks (and updates to Connect, Express, and Fenix firmware) and now it quit. Manually uploading files is a drag. Forced to use Basecamp-arrgh.
If I were in your position, I'd re-associate the Fenix with my Garmin Connect account. To do this, select the Fenix from the dropdown on the left in Garmin Express, then click the Device link on the right. Scroll down to the Garmin Connect Account area, and click Change Account. Enter the account information you would use to sign in to Garmin Connect, and click Sign In. Then, record a quick activity, and try to upload it. Check to see if that upload succeeds and then report back.
Thanks, Travis. I should have stated in my initial post that this was done. I cleared the device from connect and basecamp. Uninstalled re installed basecamp a and re booted the PC and watch multiple times. No help with my issue.
In your latest post you talk through uninstalling/reinstalling BaseCamp, but I'm saying you need to change the account information associated with your device in Garmin Express. I've never used BaseCamp, but I'm fairly certain that Garmin Express is the software that should be uploading your activities to Garmin Connect.
You are right sir. Garmin express is what I uninstalled and reinstalled. I removed the device and added it in. I will change the account info now. Basecamp is a legacy garmin program that still lets me view files on my device. Connect will let me send files (courses) to the device. It does not recognize the latest synch from express.
It sounds like you might need to master reset the unit. Follow the instructions in the link below and try again: http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={7fe95f70-0984-11e2-e8a7-000000000000}&kbName=garmin
There are a few instances in which you may want to perform a reset on your fenix, fenix 2, tactix or D2 including the following:
•Not receiving a satellite signal •Restoring the factory default settings •Not functioning properly
If the watch has frozen, locked up or become unresponsive, holding Power for approximately 15 seconds should allow the device to power off.
Performing a master reset can cause data loss. Utilize the FAQ “How do I back up user data from my outdoor GPS with a USB interface?" to back up user data*.
If removing user data is desired to eliminate corrupt data or free up additional space, refer to FAQ “Why does my Garmin outdoor or fitness GPS still show my GPS data after a master reset?” for further information.
To perform a master reset:
1.Ensure watch is powered off 2.Press and hold Down button 3.Power on GPS while continuing to hold Down button NOTE: Immediately release Power button once GPS powers on 4.Release Down button once "Clear all user settings?" message appears 5.Select Yes
The reset is successful if the device finishes powering up and goes to the setup wizard. Try the steps again if the setup wizard does not appear.
Following the reset, set the device outside with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
*User data consists of waypoints, routes, tracks, and geocaches

Completed master reset and Connect still does not sync with Express. I removed device and account from Express and Connect and reconnected device to Express. Express shows a synch with the current time and that software/firmware is up to date. I open Connect from the Express screen and it will not synch. It shows the last new information as of 2 months ago. I can pull files from the device with windows explorer and Express appears to recognize the device ok.
I am able to transfer data from the Fenix via bluetooth to my iPad app of Basecamp. Basecamp, as it is now, is way too basic to be the only place I view my data.
I'm starting to lose patience with this device. I can see my stats as I run but it's worthless to me if I can't view and track events.
I bought this device this summer at a local REI. It appears that they have sold out of Fenix and only offer Fenix 2. I don't know if they will take the original one back or exchange for the F2. Any thoughts on my next steps? I feel like I have a hardware issue that won't go away.
Are you connecting the fenix to the USB cradle when Express is syncing or trying to use Bluetooth on the laptop? Use the information in the article How do I manually upload data from USB devices to Garmin Connect? to get the existing Activities uploaded to Connect.
I recommend that you repeat an earlier suggestion to re-enter your Connect Credentials. Select the fenix from the drop down on the left in Garmin Express, then click the Device link on the right. Scroll down to the Garmin Connect Account area, and click Change Account. Enter the account information you would use to sign in to Garmin Connect, and click Sign In. Then, record a quick activity, and try to upload it. Check to see if the data shows up after the sync.
1. What Sport type are the activities? 2. Are you changing Sport type during the Activity?
The issue is unique enough that I suggest you contact Product Support by phone.
