Why do I have to load a new device each time I want to upload from my 310XT

How do I get around scanning for a new device and loading a new device each time I upload data from my 310XT?
I have a 310XT and my wife has one. Each time it takes about 10 minutes to upload data from each device because it always has to scan for the device then link to an existing account before it uploads. When it tries the second device I need to restart GExpress a few times before it finds the device and then I have to load it like a new device. Surely there is a quicker way to get this done!
  • If you have to pair the 310XT with Garmin Express each time you want to sync, delete the device from Express then clean up the left over ANT Agent data. Pair the device with Express again and your uploads should resume.

    1. Delete the contents of the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Appdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the Devices folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    2. Delete the contents of the LegacyProxy folder located in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\LegacyProxy folder
    1. Press the Windows Key + R key together
    2. Type this exactly, %Programdata%
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the Garmin folder
    5. Open the LegacyProxy folder
    6. Delete the numbered folder (unit id of the fitness device)

    3. Restart the computer

    4. Pair the device and creating a couple of short 1 min test activities.

I posted the exact same problem here last week. I was given the same advice, I tried it and it worked for a few days. Unfortunately it stopped working (Express couldn't detect my watch) so I had to setup/pair my watch again. Is there something wrong with the 310xt?

The posted solution corrects the issue for most people. The only thing step left out of the solution is to perform a master reset on the 310XT before pairing it back to Express. That is a last resort which I try to avoid. Master Reset on the Forerunner 310XT

If you continue to have trouble or the issue repeats itself I suggest you contact Garmin Support by phone at 800.800.1020 M-Th 8am-6pm and Fri 8am-5pm CST and have them take a more in depth look.
