I have tried to use default as well as custom location. Rebooted, restarted application multiple times. Th eback up completed successfully message shows up each time I try to back but not a byte is being saved in either location.
Is this a bug?
Is there any way to manually copy my favorites and places found recently?
  • Best way to back up is simply to run Basecamp and copy all your data into it, although you don't say what device you have so I'm assuming you have a GPS compatible with Basecamp?
  • I just tested the Backup on 3.2.17 with a device comparable to the Nuvi 260 and Express did copy the files to the default location. Express should create a folder in MyDocuments\Garmin\Backups\Serial Number for the Nuvi 260\. Inside that folder is a folder titled with the date, then a gpx folder and a current.gpx file inside that. The current.gpx file contains the saved waypoints on the Nuvi.

The only reason Express wouldn't be copying this file would be because the Nuvi is not creating the file on the device. On the device the current.gpx file is in the Garmin\GPX folder. I suggest that you install BaseCamp and try to receive the Waypoints from the device. You could also use the File-->Import feature to get the data.

If the device is not creating a valid current.gpx file then the data will not import into BaseCamp. Delete the current.gpx file from the device and see if the device will create a new valid one.

Last resort would be to Master Reset the device but this will clear all the waypoints from the device. The plus side is that the device should create a valid file as waypoints are saved so future Backups should work.
