Garmin Express Hangs when trying to sync/link to an existing Garmin Connect account

I have a Garmin 305 and a new PC (Win 7, 64Bit). I surfed to Garmin Connect today on the new PC (using Google Chrome) and logged in. The website
directed me to install Garmin Express to locate Devices. I did so, the install seems to have gone fine. Garmin Express locates the 305 when plugged
into the USB port. Then when I click "Add Device" it says the device needs to be linked to a Garmin Connect account. I choose the
"I want to sync to an exiting account" option. I am prompted for my Garmin Connect login information, which I provide. Then I see an endless
animation of dots running in a circle and nothing more happens. I have canceled and repeated the operation a few times. The process fails at the
same spot each time, with no useful message or progress.

What now ? Any help appreciated.

I have the same problem with Garmin Express. The old system worked perfectly, but I have yet to see a post from someone who has been able to sync with the new system.
So its not your device, computer or download not working. It is Garmin Express.
  • I have no problems synching. Have you tried another browser other than Chrome? IE11 works for me.

I have tested the Forerunner 305 and I was able to add the device and successfully upload data to Garmin Connect. If the device is getting hung up at syncing make sure the device is up to date with the latest firmware. If Express is not offering the device a firmware update you may want to try WebUpdater. If the device is already up to date Express may be unable to communicate correctly with the device and a possible master reset may be needed. See FAQ: How do I master reset my Edge 305 or 205?

I have a similar problem with my Forerunner 210. I can upload the files manually, but not through the sync feature, not since I updated to the "new look" from the "legacy" view. This was in early June. No ANT agent, just Garmin Connect and a usb line. It looks like this"

It looks like there was an issue when prompted to enter the Connect Username and Password. The grayed out Sync button means the credentials entered were not correct or the flie was corrupted. Please see the FAQ: What should I do if I'm having issues with the Garmin Express client? to make sure Express is up to date and delete then add the device. This will prompt you to enter the Connect credentials again.
